Skincare for Spring
BY FIONA FOWLEY, DIRECTOR
A new season is the perfect time to freshen up your beauty routine. From products to treatments, a few tweaks can make a world of difference and help you deal with annoying changes in your skin as the temperature heats up.
Here are my top tips to ensure your skin is spring ready…
Spring Clean Your Beauty Bag
First things first, check expiry dates. It seems an obvious point but so many of us forget to check the shelf life of our cosmetics and skincare products. Generally speaking if the consistency of something like your foundation changes, or you notice any different smells from products, they’ve probably expired. Keeping old products can expose you to harmful toxins and bacteria so it really is worth being prudent and removing. Plus, it means you have an excuse to discover some new skincare!
Banish Dull Skin
If your skin feels tight, dull and dry after the winter months, give it a boost with the . It’s one of our top facials and includes microdermabrasion to slough off dead skin cells, LED light therapy to help you achieve that youthful glow and an anti-ageing Collagen Mask Treatment with DNA Enzyme Repair to plump and smooth fine lines and wrinkles.
An exfoliating skin peel is another great treatment for anyone looking for a deep-down cleanse and exfoliation to unveil a brighter complexion too. And there are some great exfoliators you can try at home – just don’t over do it on the scrubs! Opt for a gentle exfoliator so you don’t make skin extra sensitive as your exposure to the sun increases. I like Dr Murad’s AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser, which can be used 2-3 times a week to safely encourage a healthy skin cell turnover.
Our newly launched Priori skincare range, new generation of cosmeceutical products carefully formulated using the latest technology to recognise skin individuality, offers some great exfoliating products that work on a cellular level. Pop into one of our salons for a free consultation.
Choose Lighter Products
Rich, heavy moisturisers are good for cold weather but they can cause breakouts when temperatures soar. Instead look to lighter hydrating lotions to leave skin nourished and moisturised but able to breathe. I love Priori’s new Barrier Repair complex. This oil-free, water based hydrator is a lightweight and comfortable 24-hour daily moisturiser, designed to calm all skin types.
Start Drinking Skinade
To nourish skin from the inside out try Skinade, the delicious award-winning skin plumping collagen drink. It’s jam packed with micronutrients which not only help increase moisture and hydration levels but improve skin tone and texture too. I take one daily and love it. And trust me, your summer skin will thank you for it.
