Britain’s Most Desirable Salon

Britain’s ‘Most Desirable Salon’*, Zen Lifestyle, has opened its third beauty spa and skin clinic on Hanover Street, in Edinburgh. Due to high demand, the third salon opened in August, and is already a favourite with Edinburgh urbanites seeking exclusive treatments and expert advice, in a contemporary yet opulent setting.

The sleek salon was designed personally by owners Fiona and Kieran Fowley, who have travelled the globe sourcing inspiration and ideas from some of the world’s most luxurious hotels and spas. Their inspired research is evident in the practical yet awe-inspiring salon, with its contemporary hub of streamlined furniture and modern art. With a light installation from British designer Tom Dixon and nail bar seating in the form of Philippe Starck’s iconic Louis Ghost Chairs, the spa oozes opulent charm.

The newest addition to the Zen Lifestyle portfolio is much more than aesthetics: the Hanover Street spa hosts one of Scotland’s most advanced clinics for anti-ageing skin therapies, the treatment of problem skin and non-surgical cosmetic procedures. With the help of London’s celebrity cosmetic doctor, Dr Rita Rakus, a wide range of medical cosmetic services is on offer, including Fraxel and Thermage. A dedicated Lash and Brow Bar will specialise in Lash Extensions and Threading, as well as regular lash and brow tinting and shaping. It will also offer the amazing HD Brows (High Definition eyebrows), which can transform even the most difficult eyebrows, and is offered exclusively in Edinburgh at Zen Lifestyle. The spa also boasts a dedicated tan room and a beautiful nail bar offering the latest Shellac nail treatments, as well as Zen’s famous, luxury spa manicures. A glass of bubbly is complimentary with every nail treatment.

Zen has developed an enviable reputation for the quality of its spa treatments, especially massage and facials, and moving through to the treatment rooms, the salon really does emulate the environment of the most opulent 5-star hotel spas. The rooms are deeply luxurious, with each room equipped with the latest technology, to offer a customised experience in terms of lighting, temperature and music. The ultra-modern, high-gloss surfaces are given a feeling of warmth and comfort with the help of concealed lighting, which washes the signature Zen purple down the walls to create a feeling of luxurious wellbeing.

“We were keen to create an environment, which was urban and contemporary at the front of house, where we have the reception, brow bar and nail bar, but to maintain a classic, luxury spa feeling within the rooms. The aim is to provide the perfect setting for each treatment, whether it’s express beauty treatments or the more pampering spa services.” Kieran and Fiona Fowley, directors. Whether it’s a day’s sanctuary or a lunchtime pedicure that’s needed, the Zen Lifestyle spa is a must-visit UK beauty destination.
