Fraxel Laser Treatment
We are now pleased to offer the amazing Fraxel Laser Treatment at our Teviot Place skin clinic in Edinburgh. This treatment is offered to our clients Edinburgh by Dr Rita Rakus, one of the UK's most experienced and qualified practitioners in this specialised field. Dr Rakus travels to Edinburgh from her Knightsbridge clinic in London to perform the procedure. Fraxel is the most powerful and advanced technology for treating certain skin problems which do not respond easily to other treatments or topical products. Fraxel is particularly effective for the treatment of sun damage and difficult pigmentation. It also has a powerful and durable impact on reducing fine lines and wrinkles, as well as improoving skin tone and texture.
Fraxel Laser Treatment systematically improves skin tone, smoothing out fine lines and evens out skin discoloration, by treating minute sections of the skin. This type of selective treatment causes collagen, the protein that provides both structure and support to the skin, to regenerate while not affecting the remainder of the skin's surface. The laser delivers energy deep into the dermis (skin) in thousands of small dots, leaving the surrounding areas unaffected. These unaffected areas help speed up the healing process while the treated areas promote skin improvement (rejuvenation).
Instead of a blanket surface treatment, affecting the entire skin surface in conventional Laser procedures, Fraxel treats pinpoint areas on the skin, penetrating small fractions, just deep enough to stimulate significant collagen regeneration. These microscopic treated areas begin to regenerate collagen and the surrounding non-affected areas help to speed up the body’s natural recovery process.
Fraxel Laser Treatment can be administered on any part of the body. As well as facial skin, delicate skin on the neck or chest can also be treated quite easily. The end result is impressive change to fine lines and wrinkles and a smoothing out of skin tone and colour with very little down time (Recovery time).
There is very little discomfort associated with the treatment. A typical Fraxel treatment programme involves between 2–5 procedures, spaced 1 – 2 weeks apart. The number of sessions depends upon the individual patient and the condition undergoing treatment.
Fraxel Laser Treatment is particularly effective for the treatment of:
- Rejuvenation of sun damaged skin on the face, neck, shoulders and hands
- Hyperpigmentation
- Reduction of age spots and blotches
- Skin rejuvenation
- Reduction of fine wrinklesAcne scars
- Improvement in coarse and deeper wrinkles
Treatment Results
As Fraxel Laser Treatments are based on the regeneration of collagen, the ultimate results will not be visible for about six months after treatment. However, most people begin to notice positive changes to their skin within about a week and the improvements continue for about six months.
