Is Julie B the best therapist in the UK?
We are really thrilled to announce that start therapist Julie Brown has been named as a finalist in the Best Therapist category for the 2013 Professional Beauty Awards. This is a major industry awards ceremony recognising the very best therapists from right across the UK & Ireland, so we are really excited to see Julie named in the top 6 for the second year running.
Julie is one of Zen’s best loved therapists, as witnessed by the long waiting list of clients for her amazing facials, HD Brows and other services. As well as performing treatments at the Hanover St salon, she is also the assistant manager and plays an important role in training and the running of the salon. 2012 has been an eventful year for Julie, with her work as a personal therapist to Nicole Kidman for 3 weeks being a special highlight!
After an initial judging phase to select the finalists, Julie had to fly to London to perform treatments for the judges and was put through her paces with a rigorous panel interview. The winner will be announced at a lavish awards ceremony in London in March. We’ve got everything crossed for you Julie!
It’s Official – Zen is the Best!
Zen Lifestyle scoops top prize at industry awards ceremony
On Sunday the 4th of March a team of our girls went down to London for the Professional Beauty Awards. They were all so excited, especially since one of our staff members Julie Brown was shortlisted as a finalist in the Best Therapist category. The Gala ceremony was held at the Park Lane Hilton, and there were over 900 guests form all over the UK & Ireland spa and beauty industry. TV personality and comedian Rufus Hound was the presenter for the night, and our girls didn’t hesitate to get some pictures with him! We had a table for 12 which included some of our most experienced staff members from across the 3 salons. A great night was had by all, and of course the best moment of the night was when we won Salon of the Year (UK & Ireland)!! We beat off competition from the top day spas and beauty salons throughout the UK & Ireland, and the 
judges said in the presentation that the winner ‘offers an amazing array of treatments and is truly innovative in the market’. We agree. Receiving the award Zen founder Fiona Fowley said that she was thrilled to receive this recognition from the industry and was accepting the award on behalf of the whole team across all three salons, who had all contributed to making the salon such a success.
We would also like to thank all our loyal clients who continue to inspire us to be the best we can be! We have now won a total of 16 awards, and have won UK Salon of the Year twice at the British Beauty & Spa Awards, and this is the 3rd time Zen has won Salon of the Year at the Professional Beauty awards.

Professional Beauty Awards 2012
We are really really thrilled to announce that Zen Lifestyle has been shortlisted for the Professional Beauty Awards 2012!
We have won this award twice before: Best UK Salon 3 rooms or less (2004 Bruntsfield Salon) & Best UK Salon 4 rooms or more (2005 Teviot Place Salon). And a total of 15 Beauty National Industry awards so far.
The awards recognise excellence and achievement across the UK Salon and Spa industry. The judges are looking for leadership, innovation and salons which are raising the bar for standards and improving the image of the industry in society as well as improving standards within the industry.
The judging criteria is very rigorous, including site inspections, visits to the salon by judges who will look at how we operate and receive treatments. They also look into our operating procedures, staff procedures and organisational professionalism, client care etc. There are also mystery shoppers who come for treatments and give anonymous assessments of the salon and treatments. In fact we will soon be visited by an official Professional Beauty Awards judge and another who will visit incognito as a mystery shopper.
The winner will be announced in March at a huge awards ceremony in London, which will be attended by the great and the good of the UK Beauty and Spa industry, as well as hundreds of salon owners, suppliers and manufacturers from all over the UK.
We are doubly excited as our star therapist at Hanover St, Julie Brown, has been shortlisted in the Therapist of the Year category. Julie is a highly professional and experienced therapist and we are sure she will really impress the judges at her practical judging day in London. Well done Julie and good luck!!
