Hanover St Xmas Shopping Evening
Our Hanover St salon had their Christmas Shopping Evening last night on Tuesday 29th November, and what a night it was!! We had over 70 clients turn up, and the mulled wine was flowing, the Christmas mince pies were going down a treat, and the evening was great fun for clients and staff alike.
There was huge interest in our beautiful Elemis and Murad gift sets and our gorgeous Zen Candles which clients were buying as presents or just a wee treat for themselves – we also had Sam and Jennifer the Dr Murad experts on hand to help with any product queries.
Clients received an amazing goody bag with their purchase on the evening and there was an extra 10% discount on any courses. This year’s goody bag was probably the best ever, with a full size cleanser and various other great treats!
Teviot and Bruntsfield still have 10-15 tickets if you want to come along to their nights. The Teviot Salon Xmas shopping night is on Tuesday 6th Dec, and the Bruntsfield salon event is on Wednesday 7th Dec, 5-8pm. Just call the salon to book your tickets!
Jo loves waxing
People have always wondered where my love for waxing has come from, for years I have always felt the same about it… I just love it! I love the immediate results you can get from waxing, not having to worry about any stubble
showing up a few hours later and I find it just as satisfying doing a waxing treatment as I do getting it done – werid I know!
Bikini waxing has definitely changed over the years – gone are the days when there was just one type, now at Zen we have 4! The arrival of Hot wax has made waxing on the bikini line a lot less painful – this made a huge difference to Brazilian and Hollywood clients so there’s no more oohhhs and ahhhs being heard in the salon! You can also come visit us earlier than normal as the wax can grab onto shorter hairs without the dreaded tug and pull and there’s no going over the area over and over again! And aftercare….piece of cake! Just lightly exfoliate the area after and use tend skin to stop any ingrown hairs popping up…. Simple.
So now we can finally say we are no longer nervous about coming in for our bikini waxing all thanks to hot wax hurrrray.

Revitalise with the Resurgence Range this Winter
So after spoiling myself with lots of different products, I have found my all-time favourite, the Murad Resurgence range!
Even though I am only 23 and these products are aimed mainly for mature skin, I have loved using the whole range.
The Age-Balancing Night Cream has a lovely smooth creamy texture and instantly helps hydrate my dry skin. I also love the Age Diffusing Serum as I know this is going to improve my lines on my forehead as it is rich in wild yam and soya bean which improves the production of collagen in the skin. I use the Age Diffusing Serum night and day along with my Renewing Cleansing Cream. I also use this cleanser as a mask once a week as it contains natural fruit enzymes such a pineapple and papaya which help melt away dead skin cells. When used as a mask it has a tingling sensation so you know it is working its magic.
At the moment we have lovely box sets in this range which include the Renewing Cleansing Cream, the Age Diffusing Serum, the Sheer Lustre Day Moisturizer, and the Hydro-dynamic Ultimate Moisture cream. A few of my favourite things…..
Over the years Ive tried many products and I always find it hard, with the amount of products out there, to find the right ones! My skin is dehydrated and Ive got sensitive skin so Ive got to be careful with the products I use. We have a great range of product at Zen but here are my top three….
I absolutely love Priori Barrier Repair! It is a fantastic water based moisturiser with suits all skin types. It is PH balanced so it helps protect my skin from everyday irritants, helps rebuilds my skins lipid barrier and also helps balance out natural oil and water levels in the skin. As I suffer from eczema I have tried many different steroids and creams to help it but I found that Barrier Repair, due to it repairing my skins natural lipid barrier, is the only product which has cleared it up completely. I would recommend this product for everyone as a daily moisturiser!
My second favourite product has to be Priori Invigorating Face and Body Scrub. This scrub contains BHA which gives the scrub affect on the surface of the skin and also AHA which works deeper in the skin, helping to stimulate cell renewal and dislodging dead skin and sebum that may get trapped in the pore. It is great product for fake tan users , people who suffer with hard or dry skin on the feet and ingrown hairs sufferers as the double exfoliation effect clears them up very quickly.
Finally, my third favorite is Murad Time Release Blemish cleanser. A great cleanser that will help remove impurities and excess oil from the skin but also helps balance out water levels meaning you wont get that tight feeling after you wash your face.
